4 Simple Steps for Picking an LED Light Fixture

November 21, 2018

With the rise in popularity of LED lighting, there are many different LED lighting fixtures available. From fixtures suitable for a variety of locations, colour temperature options, and numerous wattages available the options can be overwhelming.

Whether you are upgrading your existing lighting to LED lighting or you are installing new lighting fixtures we have the formula to help you pick out the right LED light fixture.

Following these four steps can help you narrow down what light fixture is best for your needs and provide you with a custom LED lighting solution.

Step 1: Choose a Light Fixture Based on the Environment You Need it For

Most industrial environments share common priorities such as safety, high productivity, and efficiency. Unique working environments including hot mils, wet applications, high ceilings, heavy vibration, and voltage spikes pose a threat to the lighting systems of these organizations. The lighting solutions we provide are designed specifically to solve some of the industries biggest lighting challenges. We have LED lighting for:

Choosing the correct lighting based on the environment it will be in will ensure that your light performs to the best of its ability. We have fixtures that can withstand high heat temperatures (up to +100°C), fixtures that are explosion-proof, fixtures made without glass or exposed screws, fixtures that can be sprayed down for cleaning and fixtures that are portable for temporary work sites.

Step 2: Decide What Colour You Want Your Lighting to Have

LED lights are available in colours ranging from warm-toned yellow-white light to a cool-toned blueish-white. This is measured with Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT) in degrees of Kelvin (K). Lower Kelvin measurements mean the fixture will produce a warmer-toned light, higher Kelvin measurements mean the fixture will produce a cooler-toned light. Most of our fixtures come in a range of 3000K (warm white), 4000K (natural white), and 5000K (cool white) light options.

Step 3: Compare Lumens Instead of Wattage

LED light fixtures can replace high wattage fluorescent or MH bulbs at much lower wattages while producing an equal or greater amount of light. Instead of deciding between different wattages, choose a light based on the number of lumens it outputs.

The lumen output measures the amount of light that is delivered by the fixture. Most times when replacing existing lighting or installing new lighting, an LED light fixture with lower wattage is sufficient to produce superior lighting. This saves you money on fixtures as well as money on energy costs. Our 600W SuperLux light is able to replace 2000W MH

Step 4: Decide What Other Features You Want Your Light to Have

LED fixtures can be installed with dimmers or motion sensors, can be used as directional or floodlighting and come with a variety of mounting options. Our products are compatible with existing wiring, easy to install, and include multi-bracket mounting kits. Some of the options available with our LED lighting systems are:

  • Wall and Pendant Mounts
  • Adjustable Brackets
  • Non-Adjustable Brackets
  • Dimming Controls
  • Motion Sensor
  • Visors
